Cooperative, as it applies to housing, means co-ownership and operation of a housing development by the residents with the assistance of a management company. All of the property of a cooperative housing development (land and building) is owned by a not-for-profit cooperative corporation, in this case the Realife Cooperative of Mankato. It is governed by its resident members (shareholders) through its board of directors, with the input from its residents.
