POV: you’ve saved and saved and you’re finally ready to buy a home. Your heart races as you text your agent, asking for a lender referral. She tells you to send her your list of home must-haves and you can't believe you're actually meeting with her and officially house hunting.
So how do you go from pinching pennies to closing day? It may be easier than you think.
First, you've gotta know what you're really saving for (and how much you need to save up!) Fun fact: 3% (or less) is the new 20% when it comes to down payments. In other words, there's a good chance you don't need to save up nearly as much as you think you do!
The best way to figure this out is to talk with your agent and a lender (or two!) It's ok and recommended to talk to more than one lender to see what they can do for you as some lenders have different programs that you could benefit from!
