City planners in Maple Grove are reviewing new proposal details for the vacant parcel at Maple Grove Parkway and 99th Avenue, located south of Highway 610 near Target.

While a grocery store was approved for this location in 2017, those plans did not move forward. The new submission features a mix of large-scale sports retail alongside quick-service drive-thrus:

• Dick’s House of Sport & Golf Galaxy: A combined 120,000 sq. ft. athletic facility modeled after the interactive Ridgedale location.
• Drive-Thru & Service Outlots: Proposed plans also include a Chick-fil-A, 7 Brew Coffee drive-thru, and a Valvoline service center.

City staff note that secondary access routes are built into the layout to help manage expected traffic near Fernbrook Fields and Maple Grove High School.

There is a unique rhythm to these last weeks of summer. Kids are soaking up their final days of vacation, college students are packing up for their dorms, and we can all feel the slow shift toward back-to-school mode. It is a sweet mix of emotions: the urge to hold tightly to every last ray of sunshine and warm evening, paired with a subtle, quiet yearning for the rhythm, routine, and cooler air of fall.

Transitions like these remind us how precious time is. They encourage us to slow down and be present right where we are, while giving us the confidence and hope to step gracefully into whatever comes next.

With that in mind, my prayer focus this week is for gratitude in the present moment, peace in the transitions, and joy as we step into new rhythms.

Scripture focus for the week:
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens."
Ecclesiastes 3:1

My prayer:
Lord, thank You for the beauty of seasons changing. Help us to fully embrace these lingering days of summer—to soak up the warmth, laughter, and sunshine with grateful hearts. As we prepare for new routines, back-to-school transitions, and the busyness ahead, quiet any anxiety about what is next. Fill our homes with peace, excitement, and confidence, knowing You guide us faithfully through every season of life.

It is easy to get caught up in daily noise, market chatter, or life’s routine and lose sight of the beauty, hope, and good happening all around us. True optimism isn’t about ignoring life’s challenges; it’s choosing to focus on hope, expecting good things, and trusting that the future holds promise.

Whether you are waiting on a breakthrough in your home search, stepping into a new season, or simply navigating your regular work week, taking a moment to look for the good changes everything.

With that in mind, my prayer focus this week is simply for renewed hope, expectant hearts, and an optimistic outlook in real estate and beyond.

Scripture focus for the week:
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." ~ Romans 15:13

My prayer:
Lord, open our eyes to see the good around us today. Fill our hearts with genuine optimism and an unshakeable hope for the future.
