Earlier this summer, West Orange leaders helped the owners of PrimoHoagies in the Essex Green shopping center cut the ribbon on the new Italian specialty sandwich shop. The Northeast Earth Coalition announced Saturday that Montclair, N.J. has been named an official Monarch City by Monarch U.S.A. for promoting the protection of the Monarch butterfly. Montclair is the second Monarch City in N.J. after Long Branch and the fifth in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Monarch City USA’s recognition of Montclair highlights the town’s commitment to the environment and to pollinators in particular.

The Friends of the South Orange Public Library will hold four popup Jewelry Sales to benefit the South Orange Public Library from 2-6 pm on September 8th, September 15th, September 22nd, and September 29th. The Montclair-based Human Needs Food Pantry recently publicly acknowledged a special donor. Egan & Sons, an Irish gastropub located in Montclair, provided sandwiches, lemonade, and snacks to every one of the clients who were on line at the pantry. Eagan's also has an item on the menu saying, "Donate a Meal." When they collect the money from the item, meals are purchased for people in need.
