While we love the sunshine, nobody wants their living spaces feeling like a sauna. Here are 4 quick tricks to keep your place cool, breezy, and comfortable all season long:

💨 1. Optimize Airflow
Create a natural wind tunnel! Open windows on opposite sides of your property during early mornings or late evenings when the outside air is crisp. Shut them tight as soon as the temperature starts climbing outside.

🕶️ 2. Block the Sun
Direct sunlight can turn your place into a greenhouse fast. Close blinds, shades, or blackout curtains on south- and west-facing windows during peak daylight hours. You'll be amazed at how much heat you block before it even enters!

🔄 3. Use Fans Wisely
Adjusting your ceiling fan to the season will help make your home more comfortable. Set it to turn counterclockwise during summer. This creates a cool downdraft that pushes chilled air directly down toward you instead of just moving warm air around. This creates a “wind chill” effect. To maximize this effect, run your fan at its highest speed.

How to Keep Pets Safe When Temperature Rises 🔥

Please keep your furry friends safe from the dangers of high temperatures. Here are some tips from the Red Cross:

💡 Don’t leave your pet in a hot vehicle, even for a few minutes. The car's interior temperature can quickly reach 120 degrees even with the windows cracked open.
💡 Keep all unscreened windows or doors closed so pets don’t fall out.
💡 Trim longer hair, but never shave your dog.
💡 Brush cats more often than usual to help prevent problems caused by excessive heat.
💡 Do not leave pets unsupervised around a pool. Don’t let your pets drink from the pool, ocean or lake.
💡 Avoid hot surfaces, such as asphalt, that can burn your pet’s paws.
💡 Don’t walk, run or hike with a dog during the hottest parts of the day or on particularly warm days.
