If you're 55+ and wondering whether your Social Security counts toward buying a home — the answer is YES. Here's what you need to know. 👇

Both regular Social Security AND Social Security disability count as qualifying income for a mortgage.

The caveat? If you're receiving disability benefits, those payments need to continue for at least 3 years after your mortgage closing date.

And if you just started receiving Social Security — don't stress. The bank isn't looking for years of history. What they want to see is your Social Security award letter and your bank statements showing those direct deposits coming in.
