What are you doing this weekend? 🎡🏡🌻

There’s plenty happening close to home!

The North Georgia State Fair is back in Marietta with rides, circus acts, motocross, animals, entertainment—and, of course, fair food.

If house hunting sounds like fun, come see me at my Open House Sunday, September 27th, from 1:00–3:00 at 425 RC Thompson Road in Dallas. Built in 2025, this home has 3 bedrooms, a bonus room, and about 3 peaceful acres.

And mark your calendar for Friday, October 2nd! The Dallas Garden Club Flower Show will be open from 2:00–5:00 at Dallas First United Methodist Church—and admission is FREE.

🏡 Can I just go into an Open House?

Yes! You can.

You don’t have to be ready to make an offer. Open houses are a great way to compare homes, neighborhoods, floor plans and price points—and sometimes discover that what you thought you wanted isn’t what you want at all.

And every once in a while, you walk into a house and think…

“OH! I didn’t know I wanted THAT!” ❤️

So next time you see an Open House sign, stop in and take a look. You might learn something about the market—and about what you want in your next home.

There was a time when the kitchen wasn’t even inside the house.
Eventually it moved indoors—but behind four walls.

Then came pass-throughs and breakfast bars.

And finally, we started knocking down the walls altogether.

Today, the kitchen island may be where we eat breakfast, do homework, open the mail, and gather with family and friends.

We’ve come a long way!

So which would you choose?
🏠 Separate kitchen
🏠 Completely open
🏠 Somewhere in between

This week on Lori’s Local Corner, we’re looking at how the kitchen became the heart of the home.

Working from home is great… until everyone else is home too. 🏡💻

The TV is on. Someone needs something. The dog is barking. And you're trying to have a Zoom meeting.

This McDonough home offers an interesting solution: take the office upstairs.

With upstairs space away from the main living areas, you can close the door and get to work. And when the workday is over, come downstairs and leave the office behind.

There's also additional upstairs space and a full bath, giving you even more possibilities.

Want to see how the floor plan could work for you?

OPEN HOUSE TOMORROW — SATURDAY, AUGUST 29
10:00 AM–2:00 PM
$299,900

🏡 Do you know your neighbors?

Here's a number that surprised me: People who knew all or most of their neighbors were more than twice as likely to feel connected to their community as those who didn't know any.

Maybe getting more enjoyment from where we live starts with something very simple:

Be the neighbor who says hello first.

This week on Lori's Local Corner, let's bring a little neighborliness back.

🏡 Don't let a home inspection report scare you!

Almost every inspection report—even on a brand-new home—contains findings.

The purpose of the inspection isn't to find a perfect home. It's to help you understand the home's condition so you can make an informed decision before closing.

In this week's Home Matters, I'll explain how to review an inspection report, what items deserve attention, and why knowledge gives buyers confidence.
