That extra rent never comes back.
Over the last 10 years, Metro Atlanta home values have roughly doubled. The average home went from about $250,000 to about $522,000. About 108%.
Rents moved too. A typical two-bedroom went from about $1,175 a month to about $1,873. About 59%.
Here is the part families miss. The extra rent you paid did not buy you an asset. The extra principal a buyer paid did.
I am not saying every family should buy this month. I am saying you should know what waiting is actually costing you, in dollars, not just in “we’ll be ready later.”
If you are renting in Buckhead, Brookhaven, Tucker, Smyrna, South Fulton, or intown Atlanta, sit down with the numbers before you decide to wait another year.
I walk families through that math every week. If you want a clear picture of rent versus ownership for your situation, message me or book a call at www.calendly.com/letricegholson.
