PROPERTY TAXES ARE INCREASING FOR COBB COUNTY RESIDENTS!!
Join us on Zoom on Monday, July 15th, at 7:30 pm to discuss the steps to take to fight the upcoming tax increases. The sign-on information is at the end of this email.
Topics for the zoom meeting include:
1. 9% property tax increase in July
2. Rain Tax increase in August
3. 2% sales tax increase in November
4. Cobb County plans to rewrite our zoning codes to remove the protections for our Neighborhood.
There will be a short presentation and questions/discussion after each topic. Please Keep muted until you are ready to speak.
Under Chair Cupid's leadership, Cobb County has plenty in store for us. We must form and work on a clear battle plan for the coming months. We can't wait until November to act. The current board will already do the damage. We need to stand together and starting now fight now!
Announcements:
The Second Tax Increase hearing will be held on July 16th at 6:30 pm at 100 Cherokee Street. We need those of you who are available to speak out against the tax increase and bring signs to hold up to clarify the message. New faces are essential! Email [email protected] if you need help with preparing to present. If you can read, you can speak.
There will be a tax increase hearing, which they will disguise as a millage hearing. An unlimited number of speakers will have three minutes. The Board of Commissioners will hold a second hearing on the budget. An unlimited number of speakers will have three minutes—demand to know what is hidden under the board budget categories. Tell them to stop budgeting based on expected tax increases and start to hold the line as we must. You do not need to sign up to speak at these hearings. Just come forward when the hearing opens.
After these two hearings, there is a third opportunity to speak during public comment. You do need to sign up to speak in public comment. The point here is rewriting our Neighborhood's zoning protections without public input during the writing and then placing it on the code change agenda in the fall.
The final hearing will be on July 23rd at 7:00 pm at 100 Cherokee Street. We need to pack the house and send a message. It's essential to make a strong showing for these meetings because, come August, we will be fighting for our pocketbooks again and for our neighborhoods.
School Board Tax Increase hearings: Thursday, June 18th at 6:30 pm. All school board hearings are at 605 Glover Street.
