Spent time this morning in a room where nothing is filtered.

We call it “Good, Bad, and Ugly.”
It’s how we start every Monday.

Real conversations about what’s actually happening in our businesses, in the market, and behind the scenes.

No highlight reel.
No pretending.
Just truth.

And it reminded me of something:

You don’t grow the fastest solely from your own experience.

You grow from shared experience.

That’s a completely different level of growth.

You don’t just gain your lessons…
you gain perspective, patterns, and clarity you wouldn’t see on your own.

That’s what most people are missing.

They work hard.
But they’re not always working on the right things.

They show up.
But not always where it matters most.

They do what they know to do…
yet they don’t always have the clarity to know what actually moves the needle.

Why?
Because they’re doing it in isolation.

If you’re the only person you’re learning from, how would you know if you’re focusing on the right things?

If you’re serious about building something that matters,
you have to be intentional about your rooms.

The right rooms don’t just support you.

They sharpen you.

They challenge how you think.
They expand what you see.
They accelerate how you grow.

Choose your rooms wisely.

After yesterday’s post, I had a lot of people ask:

“How did you know?”

How did you know to say yes?
How did you know to make the move?

The honest answer is… I didn’t. Not in the way people think.

Nothing was “wrong.”

But things that used to feel easy… didn’t anymore.
Doors I expected to open… started closing.
And internally, something just felt off.

Not chaotic.
Not urgent.
Just… off.

And at the same time—there was a pull.

I could tell you I made a pro and con list.
(Sometimes I do.)

But here’s what I’ve learned:
Not every item on those lists carry the same weight.

We tend to give logic the most weight—
but peace and pull?

They matter more than we think.

You won’t always have perfect clarity.
But you can pay attention.

👉 What feels aligned?
👉 What feels forced?
👉 What feels like it’s flowing… and what feels like it’s closing?

And then:

Have the courage to move accordingly.

Clarity doesn’t always come before the decision.

Sometimes it shows up after you trust what you’re sensing.

15 years ago today, I was packing up my life in New Orleans.

“packing packing packing!!”

No real plan.
No clear roadmap.
Just a simple, “yes… let’s do this.”

I was moving to Georgia,
a few states away,
no job lined up,
no real plan for where I’d land,
and the only people I knew were the ones I had interviewed with.

I didn’t know what that move would lead to.

I didn’t know:
who I would become
what I would build
or how much life would change

But I did know-
the kind of person I wanted to be,
the kind of chances I wanted to take,
and the kind of life I wanted to live.

That simple “yes” led to:
growing a global anti-human trafficking organization
marrying my husband
an unexpected career path
a depth of faith that only comes through pain
the joy of seeing growth in people and organizations
growth in me
a business I would one day build
a move to Florida
and three little girls sitting by the pool today

Often, we want clarity before we make a move.

But hindsight is 20/20, right?

We usually hear that in a negative way…
but what if it isn’t?

What if everything is actually working for your good?

You don’t always need the full picture.

You need enough awareness to ask:

👉 Does this move get me closer to the person I want to become?

Then have the courage to walk through the open door.

Spent time today with women who are intentional about growing- in their faith, their thinking, and how they show up in their lives.

It reminded me of something I’ve learned over and over again:

“You don’t rise to the level of your goals.
You fall to the level of your systems.”

And your environment?
It shapes both.

The conversations you sit in…
The people you learn from…
The standards you’re around…

They influence what you believe is normal.
And what feels normal eventually becomes what you build systems around.

Those systems?
They determine how you lead, build, and live.

Whether it’s in a living room talking about what God is doing or sitting across from someone who’s built, sold, and started again…
Today was a reminder—
God is in all of it.

The rooms.
The relationships.
The timing.
The things we didn’t plan…
He’s orchestrating it all.

The right rooms don’t just encourage you, they refine you.

If you’re serious about building something that matters,
you can’t afford to be casual about who and what is shaping you.

Choose your inputs wisely.

Out here for a strategic reset + think time 🌊

One thing I’ve learned:

If my inputs run dry… my leadership does too.

Most people don’t notice it right away.

It shows up as:
Less clarity.
More second-guessing.
Decisions that feel heavier than they should.

So they try to fix it the only way they know-
more effort. more action. more doing… ask me how I know 🙃

But for high achievers, the real problem usually isn’t output. It’s input.

There’s a difference between running away versus getting away and creating space on purpose.

You don’t need more time, you need better inputs.

Leadership isn’t just about what you do.
It’s about who you’re becoming.

And who you’re becoming is shaped by what you consistently think about, learn from, and give your attention to.

If you’re building something that matters-
a business, a team, a life with real responsibility then you can’t afford to operate on empty.

You have to think well.
On purpose.

The best ideas, the clearest strategy, the strongest leadership- they come from intentional space.

How you think determines how you lead.
And how you lead determines everything else.

Protect your inputs. Everything flows from there.

Back to thinking 💭
