She graduated and earned her Army commission from North Georgia Military College (now UNG) in 1992. Melissa's resume includes her service as a Commissioned Officer in the Air Defense Corps. She served in the Persian Gulf during several deployments. After leaving the service, Melissa worked at the Raytheon Corporation as a Quality Assurance Engineer. In her free time, Melissa enjoys volunteering with local Military units/families, writing, shooting, singing karaoke, camping, reading, and spending time with her husband, John, and sons, Jack and Seth.
