The front half of the site has completed framing and is now moving into interior finishes, while the back half is underway with slab pours and framing starting up. Brickwork begins soon, and we’re excited to see this community take shape! 🏗️✨

Before joining Norhaven Partners, our Development Director Gordon Smith helped bring one of Knoxville’s early build-to-rent neighborhoods to life during his time at Longline Holdings: The Highline at Knoxville.

This thoughtfully planned BTR community introduced 94 detached single-family homes to the market—among the first of its kind in Knoxville, TN. With 3- and 4-bedroom floorplans and amenities designed for real daily living—a dog park, fitness center, and pool—The Highline set a new bar for rental communities that feel like home.

We’re proud to have leaders who’ve helped shape places like this, and we’re excited for what Gordon brings to our work at Norhaven.

A nod to the past — and the creativity that drives us forward.

Before leading Norhaven Partners, our principal William Norris played a key role in the development of The Radical Hotel in Asheville, NC, during his time at Hatteras Sky. This adaptive reuse project transformed a 1920s industrial building into a 70-room boutique hotel—recently named #2 Best New Hotel in the U.S. by USA Today.

“Two of my favorite design features in the hotel include the lobby chandelier and the DJ stand over the bar in the after/glow space,” shares William Norris. “The chandelier was designed by the Suomi Design Works team and fabricated in Brooklyn. The DJ ball was fabricated in Ukraine. We ordered the DJ Ball in 2022, and it took us months to get it into the country, with the shipment from Ukraine to Berlin, then via air freight from Berlin to Spartanburg, SC, before arriving in Asheville about 60 days before we were scheduled to open the hotel. This piece of the design was one of the most challenging items that I’ve had to manage in any project.”

The iconic building in Asheville’s River Arts District sat vacant for many years and is now an integral part of the city’s culinary and hospitality scene.
