Our Night Blooming Cereus had 17 blooms the other night. This is an incredible plant that my retired landscape architect husband inherited from his Mother many years ago. It is close to 100 years old. It is a prized possession and brings happy memories of special times with his Mom. It usually blooms only once a year and close to midnight. There are Blooming Cereus Societies in more tropical areas who plan socials around this special event - the trick is recognizing when it is about to open. I can predict maybe one day in advance-hard to put an event together with such short notice. It is an absolutely magnificent flower and the fragrance is incredible. Can anyone advise on how to predict when it will open - more than one day in advance?
