🏡 DON’T LET THE HEADLINES SCARE YOU OUT OF THE HOUSING MARKET.

Yes, mortgage rates have moved up recently. But does that automatically mean it’s a bad time to buy or sell? No.

As of September 17, the national average 30-year fixed mortgage rate is 6.95%. Earlier this year we saw rates both lower and higher from week to week — because mortgage rates fluctuate.

Here’s what I want buyers and sellers to remember:

🏠 BUYERS: Your actual rate and payment depend on much more than a headline. Your credit, loan program, down payment, purchase price and other factors all matter. Before assuming you can’t afford to buy, have a lender run YOUR numbers.

🔑 HOMEOWNERS THINKING ABOUT SELLING: I completely understand not wanting to give up a great interest rate. But if your current home no longer fits your life, don’t automatically assume moving is impossible. The equity you’ve built may give you a larger down payment on your next home and change the numbers considerably.

💛 Most importantly: You don’t need to predict the “perfect” market. You need to know whether buying or selling makes sense for your finances and your life right now.

Before you put your plans on hold because of something you heard on the news, let’s look at the numbers. I can help you determine what your current home may be worth, what you might walk away with after selling, and connect you with a lender who can show you what your next purchase could actually look like.
