Pray Up is having a Prayer Walk in Marion on 4/24/22, earlier than last year. From Pray Up:
Pray Up will host its second community-wide Prayer Walk on April 24 at 5 p.m. starting from churches and organizations to downtown Marion.
Those unable to walk but who want to pray will meet at 100 S. Branson St. at 5 p.m. Community worship will begin at 6:30 p.m.
“Prayer is the beginning of every great move of God,” Pray Up founder Joseph Madigan said. “That is exactly what we need in our city.”
Launched in December 2020, Pray Up seeks to join local churches and faith communities to promote unity and prioritize prayer. In August 2021, Pray Up hosted its first prayer walk in Marion with 16 ministries and churches participating.
In partnership with Community Unity, Pray Up encourages churches to serve those who live closest to their church property by removing trash from public spaces, helping neighbors with yard work, and praying for the neighborhood.
“We are a hospital to the broken. If we don’t take care of our streets, who will?” Madigan said.
In addition to leading these initiatives, Madigan will release an EP titled “Written Off” on April 22.
Madigan, who grew up in a single-parent home and struggled with homelessness and drug use, moved to Bethel Worship Center’s Hope City at the age of 20. His newest music project reflects the freedom he found in Christ.
“I had to fight against the doubts and things people said about me in the past, and those who underestimated what God could do with my life,” Madigan said. “’Written Off’ is about being written off by people and their approval and embracing the security found in God.”
