Great news, finally!

MATTAPOISETT TO RECEIVE MASSACHUSETTS TRAILS GRANT

I am delighted to share the news that Mattapoisett will receive planning and design assistance for the final connection link in town for the bike path (Phase 2A) which will allow for the ultimate extension of the bike path from the center of town north from Route 6 and across North Street toward the Town of Marion. Known as a Mass Trails Grant, from the state, this funding in the amount of $120,000 will be used for the design and right of way work for the path which closely follows the former railroad right of way through town.

This successful application by the Town would not have been possible without the support of the Select Board, the appointed bike path committee and the determined volunteers with the Friends of the Mattapoisett Bike Path.

This grant represents timely progress as we anticipate the next piece of the path to open to the public east of Mattapoisett Neck Road.

STATE AWARDS WATER QUALITY MONITORING GRANT FOR BUZZARDS BAY WATERSHED

I am delighted to share the news that the Buzzards Bay Coalition will participate in a regional Watershed Planning Program Grant in the amount of $16,109 from the state Department of Environmental Protection. The monies will assist in continuing existing water quality monitoring activities and to build new capacity for collecting high resolution water quality data in Buzzards Bay. As I saw during my time as a member of the Mattapoisett Conservation Commission, before I became a State Rep, Buzzards Bay is essential to our economy, environment and quality of life on the Southcoast. Thanks to the Baker-Polito administration for this support.
