WOW! To say that we feel the love from everyone is just such an understatement. As I type this we have received $4,180 in donations which doubles to $8,360. I have wanted to be thoughtful and specific with how I steward the donations that have been entrusted to me and it is just amazing how God has showed up in the situation. Those of you that know me, know I am kind of wordy so come with me as I tell you how much of this came about. A lot of our donation centers are busting at the seams and as the weather is changing and power is being restored the needs are changing almost daily so they just don't have storage needed for items. I had several donations that I had purchased in the first round that were not needed immediately around here. I knew in the coming days things would be needed again so my plan was just to hold it for a few weeks but I reached out to one of my clients who has a small baby to check to see if she needed any formula or diapers. They had lost power for several days but didn't have major damage so she graciously said they were good but that her parents church is helping a small community that really hasn't received much help. This past weekend several of my family members made a trip up this way and we dropped off what they had collected from several spots along the way and what I had so that this sweet church family could make the next leg of the trip up to the little mountain community of Frank. While I was speaking with my client's mom (aka the Pastor's Wife)- she told me of how she had stumbled upon the little town of Frank. They had gone up the Mtn to deliver items only to be told the donation center was full. So she started making calls. One person told her about this little town and gave her a number. She called and they eagerly said they could take anything because they had nothing and their community was devastated. When they arrived she mentioned the name of the person she had spoken to and got the number to the contact them and the person had never heard of that person. Funny how God just lines things up! Like so much of NC and TN, this town lost so so much. Their homes, their jobs, their town, and even in some situations they lost their land to the rivers, streams and creeks. We have a list of their needs and we are working to meet them. For all of those that have donated, today WE were able to buy Buddy Heaters that are safe to use inside homes and tents, small containers of propane for the camping stoves, heaters, lights, etc, sleeping bags, pillows, towels and washcloths, blankets, and more. I'll get pictures as soon as it all comes in so you all can see how you guys blessing so many people. We are also helping a young local lady reestablish herself in her new little home and we will be looking to do more of the same for others as they start finding some level of normal again. Thank you all so very much!! The devastation is so unbelievable but the love and outpouring has been amazing.
