FLASH FLOODING UPDATE – MCDOWELL COUNTY

Heavy rainfall overnight has resulted in flash flooding across portions of McDowell County. More than 7 inches of rain has fallen in the Sugar Hill, Zion Hill, and Crooked Creek communities, with widespread rainfall totals of 4–6 inches reported across other areas of the county. Additional heavy rainfall is expected again before sunrise.

⚠️ Water levels remain high this morning. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary. Never attempt to drive through flooded roadways. Turn Around, Don't Drown!

Please remain vigilant, avoid flooded areas, and allow emergency personnel to safely respond to incidents.
