When purchasing a home, most buyers don't know a home inspection DOES NOT INCLUDE an Oil Tank Sweep which is highly recommended for homes built before the mid-1970s is at high risk, though it is generally recommended for homes built before 2000.

Hidden, abandoned tanks can leak oil, contaminating soil and groundwater, which poses severe ecological and health risks.

If an oil tank leaks, cleanup costs can reach tens of thousands of dollars. Discovering a tank before purchasing a home prevents you from inheriting this liability.
