Teacher spotlight 🍎

✨Krista Iannone✨

I teach 2nd Grade at Upper Township Primary School
This is my 7th year teaching.

I love inspiring my second graders to grow a love for learning in all ways. It's about being able to help my students excel academically but also showing them how to be kind, creative and compassionate human beings. I strive to make my classroom feel like the students’ second home- where they feel loved, celebrated and are able to be their true selves. I love to incorporate real world events into our classroom to make our lessons even more engagging and allow for the students to make true connections with what they are learning. The best part of teaching is forming strong personal connections with each student, all while watching them become the best they can be.

Outside of the classroom you can find me supporting my students at their extracurricular events, helping at my family’s deptartment store (Sands) in Sea Isle, cheering on the Eagles or walking the beach. Growing up in a small town surrounded by my family allows me to bring that same sense of community into my classroom each day.

Mackenzie King

Mackenzie, teaching means inspiring her students to be kind, confident, and compassionate human beings. It’s about showing up every day, giving her best, and creating a classroom where children feel safe, supported, and free to be their true authentic selves. She hopes to instill in her students a sense of confidence, drive, and a love of learning that will stay with them both inside and outside the classroom, encouraging them to be lifelong learners.

Mackenzie is entering her fifth year of teaching as a preschool teacher at Ocean City Primary School. Outside the classroom, she also teaches dance and spin, where she shares her love of movement, creativity, and connection. Whether in school or the studio, Mackenzie is passionate about inspiring others and bringing out the best in every student she teaches.

I’m so honored to have been selected to receive an Amazon Wishlist item from Burns Construction! 💛

Teaching has always been more than just a job for me—it’s about inspiring 4th graders,building lifelong relationships, sharing my love for math, reading, and writing as well as
getting to know my students through their writing as I watch them grow throughout the year.

Teachers have the opportunity to inspire students not only inside the classroom but beyond it through coaching Upper Township P*e Wee Cheer, cheering at Upper sporting
events, and being present at community activities. I strive to be a positive role model in everything I do. I began my teaching career in Millville, where I taught 4th grade for 8 years, and for the past 10 years, I’ve been blessed to continue teaching 4th grade here in Upper. I love being
part of a small, supportive community that always puts family first.

We are kicking off our “teacher spotlight” with Emily Gillian✨ As a 3rd grade teacher at Ocean City Primary School, Emily believes that every lesson is an opportunity to go beyond academics. She believes kindness will change the world and weaves kindness into everything she teaches, with the hope that every student leaves her classroom not just smarter, but being a better person than when they first walked in.

Outside of school, she is also a Spin Instructor at Rhythm & Ride, the studio she and wife Kierstin proudly own together. While teaching has always been her calling, stepping onto the bike has become one of the most rewarding parts of her life. Emily say she wouldn’t be where she is today as an instructor without Kierstin—her encouragement and belief in me have pushed me to become the very best I can be. Together, we’ve created a space that uplifts and inspires.

Emily’s motto “Be kind to yourself, be kind to your bodies, and always be kind to others.”
