NO WORRIES ABOUT THE APPRAISAL PROCESS DEAR BROKER FRIENDS! APPRAISERS HAVE BEEN ADJUSTING MARKET CHANGES FOR A LONG TIME! There appears to be a lot of discussion on FB and other social media platforms regarding how appraisers are going to handle this lack of a selling commission being paid by the sellers and how it will affect price. Well, like anything else, appraisers will make any adjustment to the grid after doing their due diligence to see how the sales contract affects the price and market value. The market is always changing! We will have to review each contract for the terms; due diligence with brokers for information about commissions. We will still be doing our comp search based upon the real estate rights and improvements on that land as before AND with enough proof that this commission change may/may not have affected the "market value" our processes will remain the same. Not much will change in our methodology. It will affect the way brokers do business, but not the way appraisers do business, really.

Congrats to Catherine!

Good morning. We would like to thank Catherine Quayle who stopped by and donated $250 in bus tickets to our program yesterday. Catherine has donated around $1,000 in tickets over the past several years which has allowed our case management staff (included NMU social work interns) to provide hundreds of rides to medical appointments, job searches (and going to jobs), housing searches, application drop offs, and shopping. This series of gifts has allowed a profound ability to provide transportation to individuals with no, or extremely limited, financial means and funds the necessary rides which allow progress towards housing independence and to be included in the wider resources available in the community.

Appraisal Associates of Marquette has some news!

We are pleased and proud to now offer Commercial Appraisal Services! Our commercial services will cover the entire Upper Peninsula with our newly added Certified General Appraiser, Gretchen Caspary who comes to us from the Houghton Area. Gretchen has a BA in Linguistics and an MBA in Marketing
from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a PhD in Human Development and Social Policy from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She worked in public policy research in Chicago and the San Francisco Bay Area before changing careers to become an appraiser in 2014. She received her appraisal training at the Appraisal Institute.

Gretchen enjoys commercial appraising because each property is unique and interesting. She looks forward to continuing her education and pursuing an MAI designation with the Appraisal Institute and is thrilled to join the Appraisal Associates team! Please help us in welcoming her to our firm and our community!
