Yesterday was a full day to celebrate the launch of FIV Realty of Maine with Kim Tarbox. It has been an honor to support her and grow this brand in Maine. Such a fun event and loved getting to know the other FIV agents across the country who flew in. Here’s to new beginnings!

What a year it’s been! Eric and I made the big decision to sell our Virginia home and start living full-time in Maine—something we’d been dreaming about for a while. Maine was calling, and we finally answered! Even with the move, I continued traveling back to Virginia about once a month to stay connected with family and help clients, closing over $8M in real estate sales so far in 2025. The balance between both places has worked out beautifully, and after plenty of thought (and more than a few crochet projects!), I decided to take the next step and become a licensed real estate broker in Maine. So if you or someone you know is thinking about making a move to Southern Maine, I’d love to be your go-to resource! Martha was a bright spirit in our family’s life. As cousins, she and dad were fast friends and they traveled together from Florida to work in Lake Tahoe during the summers. Martha obtained her PhD from the Dept. of Drama and Theater at Michigan State University with a dissertation on southern India Folk dances and theater of Yakshagana. She elevated these performers and wrote books about Yakshagana and Krishnattam. In 2016, I had the pleasure to travel with Martha and her beloved husband Bob to southern India where she was welcomed and treated like royalty among these performance communities. Martha turned 81 on this trip, and I was eternally grateful for this opportunity. Everywhere we went, she received gifts of brass figures, oil lamp, scarfs and books. All small tokens of appreciation for her work to shine light on these art forms. During the month long journey we carried these precious gifts. When she accidentally left them behind at a hotel, we tracked down the hotel driver and the hotel shipped them to our next destination. Martha would always say, “I will cherish this gift because you gave it me.” She would have been 90 years old today. Martha’s bright spirit will always be watching over us.

Well you heard the news in the papers this month! The Afro-American Historical Association of Fauquier County VA. is moving to Warrenton! I just assisted Karen White with the purchase, and we closed on the property today. It is always a pleasure to serve especially for such an amazing organization. Congratulations!
