Bought a house in 2025 in Columbia County?
Don’t leave FREE money on the table this tax season. 🏡💸

What it is Homestead exemption = a tax break on your primary residence.
You apply once, and as long as you live there, it keeps renewing.

Deadline
⏰ Apply Jan 1 – April 1, 2026
Miss it = no break on your 2026 tax bill.

Basic docs you’ll need
To apply in Columbia County, you typically need:
• Completed homestead application for your property
• Georgia driver’s license/ID with your Columbia County home address
• Vehicle registrations showing your cars are registered to that address
• Deed or proof of ownership if records aren’t fully updated

If you owned in another county/state:
• Be ready to show you’re NOT getting a homestead exemption anywhere else.
Military? They may ask for your LES.

Special exemptions
Extra savings if you qualify for:
• 65+
• Disability
• Disabled veteran
These usually need proof of age, income, disability and/or VA documentation.

How to actually do it
1️⃣ Confirm this is your primary residence
2️⃣ Gather your docs
3️⃣ Submit your homestead application with the county before April 1, 2026.
