🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨

✅ Fannie Mae is removing the 620 minimum score requirement from its automated underwriting system (DU) starting Nov. 16, 2025.

What’s changing?

📌 Co-borrower averages: Fannie Mae will now assess the average credit score when two individuals are on a loan, making it easier for more people to qualify.

📌 VantageScore 4.0: Lenders can now utilize VantageScore 4.0 in addition to traditional FICO scores. Since VantageScore often yields higher scores, this could open doors for more borrowers.

📌 No strict 620 minimum: The previous 620 minimum for some conventional loans is no longer a blanket requirement, though a minimum representative credit score will still apply in certain situations.

❌ That does not mean credit checks are gone. Lenders will still use your score. It’s just no longer an automatic dealbreaker in Fannie Mae’s system.

What does this mean for you?

📌 Easier qualification: These updates simplify the qualification process, particularly for couples with different credit scores or those with higher VantageScores.

📌 Importance of good payment history: Lenders will continue to prioritize your overall credit profile and payment history, not just one score.
