Today was one of those days you know is coming, but you’re never really prepared for when it gets here.

We dropped our daughter off Aaliyah for her freshman year Bluffton. There were lots of laughs, lots of tears, and a whole lot of hugs.

As I watched her walk into this next chapter of her life, I couldn’t help but think about how quickly the years have passed. It seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home, and now we’re watching her head off to college and begin figuring out who she is and what she wants her life to be.

I couldn’t be more proud of her.

And I couldn’t be more proud of my wife, either. Watching the two of them navigate this moment together has been pretty special. The love, support, and encouragement she has poured into our daughter over the years has helped make her the young woman she is today.

I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of both of their lives. Being a husband and a dad is one of the greatest parts of who I am, and today reminded me just how blessed I am to have these two women in my life.

So go, be you. Be curious. Keep an open mind. Make mistakes. Make memories. Learn a lot. Laugh a lot. And most importantly, enjoy the ride.

We love you more than you know. ❤️

Now the hard part begins for Mom and Dad—learning how to let go while still being close enough when you need us.

“Who pays the mortgage while the house is on the market?

It is the question I get in almost every divorce listing, and it is the one most likely to blow up the sale.

The lender does not care that you are divorcing. That payment is due every month. And one missed payment can cost the spouse who wants to keep the house the ability to qualify for the buyout.

Decide it in writing. Before the sign goes in the yard.

“The July closed numbers are in for Marysville.

And the number that matters most this month is not the price. It is the calendar.

July is the last month of the year with a fully active buyer pool. Once school starts here in mid-August, the families who shopped all summer either bought or stopped looking.

What is left in September is smaller and more patient. That is not a reason to skip fall. It is a reason to get the price right on day one.
