Tomorrow, our sweet grandson, Tennessee Waylon, would have turned 8 years old.

Instead, tomorrow marks 4 years since we lost him.

Tennessee spent his short life fighting battles that no child should ever have to face. He survived so much and showed a strength that inspired everyone who knew him. We prayed, hoped, and celebrated every victory along the way. Yet, God called him home far sooner than any of us were ready for.

There isn’t a day that goes by that he isn’t thought of, loved, and deeply missed. Grief doesn’t disappear with time. You simply learn to carry it.

Tomorrow, like every year, I’ll keep myself busy. I’ll be working because that’s how I cope. Staying busy doesn’t mean I miss him any less. It just helps me get through a day that should have been spent celebrating his 8th birthday.

Happy Birthday, sweet Tennessee Waylon.

You changed our lives forever in your four precious years. We will carry your memory with us for the rest of ours. We love you, we miss you, and we look forward to the day we see you again.

Until then, watch over us, sweet boy. 💙
