****SCAM ALERRT*****
I make it a point to let my clients know if you receive a letter in the mail asking for you to pay for your Deed to a property you have recently closed on, it is a scam.
One of my clients received one in the mail today for $128. to access her deed to the property she closed on a couple weeks ago. DO NOT PAY THIS!
If you have any concerns or questions always feel free to call your realtor or your title company or lawyers office. Again don’t pay this amount, you can access your deed at your local county’s courthouse if you need another copy. It only cost maybe about $20 depending on county. These scammers are targeting the fact that people don’t know these things! They are however providing a service which makes it legal at the present time to do this!! 270 properties have closed in Blount County alone this month. If they get all those people unknowingly to pay up….that’s $27000 in profit they have made just in one county!!
Don’t fall victim to these scams. And as always please feel free to give me a call with any questions you may have. I’m always glad to help with before during and after the transaction questions!!!
I can not stress enough that you should use people you trust and are licensed in this field. We do continued education that is mandatory to hold these licenses. We try to the best of our ability to stay on top of all current information and changes.
