My name is Joe David Yates and I am excited to announce my candidacy for Mason Independent School District at large board of trustee position.
Mason County is home to our family and our family businesses. My wife, Heather, and I are proud parents of son, Sloan, a 7th grader, and daughter, Savannah, a 9th graderβboth who are active in academics and athletics at Mason ISD. Inspired by the Mason culture of devotion to our students, staff, school and our community, I desire to help the continuation of striving for excellence.
I have a deep passion for this community, for our Mason kids, and for Mason ISD as a whole. I am committed to working diligently and dedicating my time and energy to preserving the values which define Mason ISD while supporting its continued pursuit of the best possible outcomes for our students, staff, administrators, and community.
I currently serve on the board of Capital Farm Credit and have spent years working as a director serving the stockholders within the Farm Credit System, including at the national level. This experience has given me a strong background in budgeting, planning, and making sound decisions which affect rural communities and their stakeholders.
A strong community like Mason stands behind its school systemβand the strength of leadership is key to keeping the momentum going. I consider our school a gift and truly a gem of this community and beyond. Holding ourselves to a high standard not only strengthens what we have, but also attracts great teachers, administrators, and families who want to be part of Mason ISD.
I believe this mentality is one of the most important things the leaders which have gone before us established, and it is vital the leadership going forward continues to strengthen and help MISD maintain the concept to strive for excellence.
It is my commitment to the citizens of Mason County and respective families to have an open-door policy to hear both concerns and support for MISD, its students and staff.
We are blessed to have one of the strongest and highest-rated school districts in the small town arena in the state of Texas.
I respectfully and humbly ask you to go vote in the upcoming May 2nd, 2026 Mason ISD school board election.
Sincerely,
Joe David Yates
