As I look at what new homes are hitting the market on this rainy day, it reminded my why I actually like showing homes on days like this. The article is older, but still holds true. Here's a quick run-down:
1. Buyers looking in the rain are motivated. The casual shoppers aren't going to get soaked or freeze for a home they don't really intend to buy.
2. It gives you a better idea of the condition of the roof. Problems may not be easily seen during stretches in between rain. Not a deal killer, but something to consider!
3. It'll expose foundational issues. Is the sump pump working properly? Water seeping into the walls?
4. You'll see if there are issues with standing water. That backyard may look great until it rains, then you have a little swamp and a gator moving in 😆
5. It'll show the effectiveness of the gutters. While showing a home yesterday, the splash pattern of the mulch on the foundation showed evidence of clogged and over-flowing gutters.
Even if you aren't looking to buy/sell at this time. Take a rainy day as an opportunity to make sure your home isn't having any of the above issues. It'll save you a lot of headaches in the long run.
