This is different than what I normally do. These clients wanted to refresh their living room / dining room combo in their 1960s split. Instead of all new furniture and decor items, they just wanted to freshen the rooms using what they’ve collected in their nearly 50 year marriage. For the first time in the almost 20 years that they’ve lived in this house, these two rooms now have different flooring, wall colors, and window treatments.
In order to achieve the look they were going for but still highlighting their classic antique French furniture, we went with Vintage Taupe, which was color drenched throughout the room. We chose Jenna relaxed Roman shades and pleated curtains in the birch color, which complements the color of the furniture. Black and gold shades with a neutral cord cover updated the existing chandelier, and the table is set with their (now vintage) wedding china and crystal.
The chairs were reupholstered in a coordinating cream and ivory tweed and the gorgeous Melsetter teal rug coordinates with the forest green grasscloth wallpaper in the living room’s built-in cabinetry.
Pictures of the living room coming soon!
