Just a reminder that live trees are not permitted inside the apartments due to the potential fire hazard they can cause if not taken care of properly. We would like our residents to have a Happy Holiday, but most of all, a safe one.

This video done by the NIST shows a VERY DRY Christmas tree on fire in a room. It takes a little over 30 seconds for the room to flashover.

Happy Halloween to all of our residents. We hope everyone has a safe night trick or treating!

Safety Tips for Drivers
•Slow down in residential neighborhoods and obey all traffic signs and signals.
•Drive at least 5 mph below the posted speed limit to give yourself extra time to react to any children who may dart out into the street.
•Watch for children walking on roadways, medians and curbs. In dark costumes, they'll be harder to see at night.
•Look for children crossing the street. They may not be paying attention to traffic and cross the street mid-block or between parked cars.
•Carefully enter and exit driveways and alleys.
•Broaden your scanning by looking for children left and right into yards and front porches.

Tips for Safe Trick or Treating

If you're going "Trick or Treating" at Halloween, remember these safety tips, so you can have fun and keep safe at the same time!

•Always go trick or treating with an adult
•Only go to houses where you or your friends know the residents
•Don't knock on doors where there is a sign saying "NO callers" or there are no outside lights on
•Stay in areas that are lit with streetlights - take a flashlight with you just in case
•Stay with your friends - don't split into smaller groups unless an adult goes with you
•Don't talk to strangers on the street
•Don't enter any house, stay on the doorstep
•Always look carefully before crossing the road, even if you are part of a group
•Be visible

Effective October 1st Old Mill Glen will become smoke free.

Due to increased risk of fire, increased maintenance costs, and the health effects of secondhand smoke, Old Mill Glen is adopting a Smoke Free Policy, which prohibits smoking in any apartments, interior common areas, including but not limited to community rooms, community bathrooms, lobbies, receptions areas, hallways, laundry rooms, stairways, offices, and within 75 feet of building, including entry ways, porches, balconies, patios, windows and public sidewalks. This policy applies to all residents, guests, visitors, service personnel and employees of Wingate.

The term “smoking” means inhaling, exhaling, breathing, or carrying any lighted cigar, cigarette, electronic cigarette, v**e or other to***co product, ma*****na or similar lighted product in any manner or in any form.

We hope that everyone cooperates in making Old Mill Glen a healthier place to live!
