It is with a very heavy heart that the McAlester Housing Authority (MHA) confirms that Raymond Henderson passed away on March 4th, 2025, at his home. He was the Supervisor of the MHA maintenance department, and his absence will surely leave a huge hole in it. Raymond has been with MHA since 2012, and he was instrumental in the day-to-day operations of the MHA. Raymond will be greatly missed. The MHA sends heart-felt thoughts out to his family during this very hard time.

The McAlester Housing Authority will be reopening the Public Housing 1 Bedroom Waiting list on October 8, 2024. All other Public Housing Waiting lists remain open. The Section 8 Waiting list remains closed. Applications for the Public Housing Waiting list can be picked up at 520 W. Kiowa Ave, McAlester, OK or can be printed from the website at mcalesterhousing.com.

The MHA 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom waiting lists are open. There are not very many people on the 3 and 4 bedroom waiting lists so come put your application in so we can get you approved.

The 1 bedroom waiting list is closed due to its long wait time, but, the 2, 3, 4, and 5 waiting lists are open and taking applications. The 2, 3, and 4 waiting lists are shorter and may not take as long for housing. Applications available at 520 W Kiowa, McAlester or at mcalesterhousing.com.
