Texas just made real estate even stronger.
Three major constitutional amendments passed and they directly benefit investors, wholesalers, and property owners in the RGV:
Proposition 2: Texas is now permanently prohibited from imposing any state capital gains tax on individuals, families, estates, or trusts.
This protects your profits on flips, assignments, long-term holds, equity exits, and trust-based ownership.
Proposition 8: Texas is now constitutionally barred from enacting any estate, inheritance, or “death” tax on property transfers.
Real estate can pass to heirs, trusts, or entities without a state transfer tax.
Proposition 9: Texas now allows a $125,000 exemption on taxable business personal property used for income production.
This lowers operating costs for investors, landlords, and real estate businesses.
Bottom line:
Texas strengthened property rights, lowered long-term tax exposure, and created a more favorable environment for building and holding real estate.
If you’re buying, selling, investing, or structuring deals, DMR Resolutions LLC can help you take advantage of these new protections.
