🚨 Important Warning for Homebuyers! 🚨
I recently showed a house to a client and left my business card on the counter, a common practice for agents. Two days later, I received a call from a woman who took my card from the house after seeing an ad on social media. She shared a troubling story: when she and her husband called about the property, a man on the other end gave them the code to a lockbox. After some confusion with the locks, they could access the home because someone had seen the house, put a second lockbox after making a copy of the key.
This man then pressured them for a $150 application fee and an additional $750 through several mobile payment apps. He even collected sensitive personal information from the elderly couple, who were understandably confused.
After hearing this, I contacted the listing company, and they confirmed it was a scam! 😡
My message to you: If you’re buying a home, always work with a buyer’s agent! We’re trained to protect you from scams and guide you through the process. Your safety and security are our top priority, and we have the knowledge to keep you safe.
