After 38 years behind bars for a crime he never committed, Maurice Hastings has been awarded $25 million in his wrongful conviction case. Maurice was convicted in 1983 of the sexual assault and homicide of Roberta Wydermyer in Inglewood, California. DNA evidence tested in 2021 later proved his innocence and linked another man to the crime. Maurice was exonerated in 2022.

The Los Angeles Innocence Project took on Maurice's case and fought to set him free. And a judge declared him factually innocent in 2023. His lawsuit alleged that two Inglewood Police Department officers and a Los Angeles County District Attorney investigator framed him.

Now at 72 years old, Maurice lives in Southern California, and he stays active in his church community and volunteers. In a statement, Maurice said, "No amount of money could ever restore the 38 years of my life that were stolen from me. But this settlement is a welcome end to a very long road, and I look forward to moving on with my life."

A mother named Miracle Keith and her 3-year-old daughter, Amiri, miraculously survived a devastating house fire at their home in Conway, South Carolina on May 30, 2026. It all happened at 4:00 a.m., and Miracle did everything she could to protect her daughter from the flames. Conway Fire Rescue rushed to the scene and three people were taken to hospitals for treatment, including a woman named Morgan Christie.

Miracle and her daughter are now in the Burn ICU in Augusta, Georgia. And Miracle is in more critical condition than Amiri. They lost their home and everything inside it, including their memories. A GoFundMe set up by the Keith family has raised over $38,000 in just two days. The money will go to medical care, immediate needs, and housing once they are released. Morgan Christie is also in the ICU, and her family said, "She squeezed our hands. She actually was reaching for my hand to squeeze itโ€ฆ She tried to talk, but unable. We can see she is anxious."

Miracle's parents, Nina Keith and Kenya Keith Sr., said, "Our daughter and granddaughter were involved in a devastating house fire that changed their lives in an instant. By the grace of God, they survived, but they lost everything they owned. 'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.' - Psalm 46:1" We're sharing their story on Stay Inspired to support them and help them rebuild their lives. Please pray for the families during this difficult time.

โ€ผ๏ธ UPDATE on the 12-year-old boy who was struck in the neck by a baseball and is currently on life support.

Families across the United States are placing baseball bats outside their homes in honor of young Xavier Taylor โ€” a young fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

I have been following Xavierโ€™s story since the moment an ordinary day around baseball turned into something no parent could ever imagine.

Xavier was not playing in a championship game.
He was not making a highlight-reel catch or stepping up for a game-winning hit.
He was simply warming up before a youth baseball game in New Jersey.

According to his family, Xavier โ€” a young pitcher and shortstop who dreamed of one day representing the Alabama Crimson Tide โ€” was walking toward the dugout when a baseball thrown by another player accidentally struck him in the neck.

Within moments, everything changed.

His father says Xavier collapsed, went into cardiac arrest, and had to be airlifted to the hospital.

Days later, he remains unresponsive in the intensive care unit. Medical equipment is now keeping him alive as his family waits, prays, and hopes for any sign that their little boy is still fighting to come back.

As a parent, itโ€™s hard not to think about how quickly life can change.
One moment you are helping your child get ready for baseball.
The next, you are standing beside a hospital bed praying for a miracle.

But there is another child in this story carrying a burden no kid should ever have to bear โ€” the teammate who threw the ball.

Xavierโ€™s father has publicly said he does not blame him. He called it exactly what it was: a tragic freak accident.

Still, it is impossible not to think about what that young player must be feeling as he watches his friend fight for his life.

Two families are now forever connected by a moment nobody could have predicted and nobody can undo.

Over the weekend, hundreds gathered outside the hospital where Xavier is being treated. Teammates, friends, coaches, neighbors, and even strangers stood together looking up toward the ICU windows.

Many wore shirts with Xavierโ€™s number 6.

Xavierโ€™s father, Greg, shared words that have stayed with so many people ever since:
โ€œMy son Xavier loves this game. He will play this game again.โ€

Not because doctors have promised it.
Not because anyone knows what tomorrow holds.
But because that is what hope sounds like when it is all you have left to hold on to.

Tonight, Xavier remains unresponsive. His family remains at his bedside.
And thousands of baseball fans โ€” including members of the Alabama Crimson Tide community โ€” are praying and hoping that somehow this 12-year-old boy who loves baseball so much will one day pick up a bat, step onto the field, and hear his name called again.

If you would like to join them, place a baseball bat outside your door and say a prayer for Xavier Taylor.

Because right now, the entire baseball world is hoping for the same miracle. ๐Ÿ’™โšพ๐Ÿ™
