🚨 WAIT… WHO ACTUALLY PAYS CLOSING COSTS? 🏡💰
If you’re thinking about buying a home, there’s something you need to know before you start shopping:
The price of the house is NOT necessarily the amount of money you’ll need to bring to closing.
So what are closing costs?
They’re the various expenses involved in getting your home purchase across the finish line. Depending on the transaction, they can include things like lender fees, appraisal, title services, recording fees, prepaid taxes and insurance, and other costs.
💡 But here’s where it gets interesting…
The buyer doesn’t always have to pay all of them.
In some transactions, the seller may agree to pay certain closing costs or provide a credit toward the buyer’s costs. What’s possible depends on the loan program, the contract, the property, and the terms negotiated between the parties.
👉 That means the amount you need to budget for closing can be different from one home purchase to another.
One of the biggest mistakes buyers can make is focusing ONLY on the down payment and forgetting about the other expenses that come with purchasing a home.
Knowledge = negotiating power. 🔑
Before you fall in love with a house, make sure you understand:
✔️ Your estimated closing costs
✔️ Your down payment
✔️ How much cash you may need at closing
✔️ Whether seller-paid costs may be an option
And if you’re a first-time buyer, don’t be afraid to ask questions! That’s what your real estate and lending professionals are there for.
