A little real estate fact for my fellow dog parents…

According to Realtor.com, 72% of pet owners would pass on their dream home if it didn’t meet their pet’s needs. And 75% say they’d walk away from an otherwise perfect house if it wasn’t the right fit for their furry family member. (Better Homes & Gardens)

I get it.

Aspen has a favorite stop on our neighborhood walks. Not because of the square footage. Not because of the upgrades.

Because one family keeps a bowl of fresh water and a container full of dog treats waiting on their front porch for every pup that walks by. 🥹 SOOO SWEET!!!

As we head into the Fourth of July season and the flags start lining the streets, I’m reminded that people don’t just fall in love with houses.

They fall in love with neighborhoods.

The kind where neighbors look out for each other, where dogs have favorite houses, and the kind where community still matters.

If you’re going to buy your next home, make sure your four-legged daughter approves. 🐾🇺🇸

McKinney dog owners… where’s your pup’s favorite walking route?

TEXAS REALTORS… DON’T BE *THAT* AGENT 🤦🏻‍♀️

New contracts go into effect July 1…. Please, make sure YOU take ownership of your education and get yourself to a class about the changes.

SAVE THIS ONE 🧨🇺🇸

“Why do you film the fireworks??” - everyone who’s ever been with me on the 4th of July.

“….THIS!” - me, finally, in 2026. 💁🏻‍♀️

Here’s every fireworks show happening near Mckinney TX this upcoming holiday.

👇Save the list at the end, screenshot it, share it, and put it in the group chat where your family is trying to figure out “what are we doing for the fourth“. You’re welcome. 🇺🇸

Hint: some shows occur the weekend before, so don’t let them pass you by!

(DC on the 4th is totally worth it by the way! And so is watching it from your friend’s boat! 🛥️)

In all the 24 years I’ve been an agent its been with babies on my hip - while they’re taking naps - then at school - and now, while they’re out living their amazing lives (*insert beginnings of tears...again...but hey, it’s been 24 hours, so i’m due for tears again*).

Back to the main point...

Real estate works into MY life - not the other way around.

Are there times where our clients can ONLY look on certain days? yes.
Are there days where we negotiate until mindnight? also yes.

But more times than not, I have tried my best...after learning some hard lessons like missing seeing Gavin crawl for the first time...that family “appointments” (dinners, games, school performances) are indeed - APPOINTMENTS.

And I LOVE working from home...
Honestly not having a traditional office to report to has been one of the biggest blessings I didn’t know I needed.

There wasn’t one person in my old offices that needed to buy or sell. But there was drama. Gossip. Energy vampires. Ick.

Even in the years I had access to a brick and mortar office I rarely went. Because I already knew: that environment wasn’t serving me.

That’s actually one of the reasons I love being with Real. It’s cloud-based, which means there’s no mandatory office to show up to, no toxic energy to absorb, no negativity bleeding into my mindset before I walk through the door.

And listen - if you’re in an office full of negative people, that energy WILL find you. Protect it. Guard it like it’s your most valuable asset... because it is.

24 years in, and I’d choose this every single time. 🏡❤️

Summer has a sneaky way of testing us mom-preneurs…

The schedules change. The kids are home. Vacations pop up. The pool starts sounding a whole lot better than lead generation.

And then one day you’re scrolling through old videos…

A little boy learning to ride his bike with his stepdad.

A family cruise I took with my boys after my divorce.

Moments I almost forgot about until a video brought them rushing back.

And it hit me all over again how grateful I am that I documented those memories… and even more grateful that I gave myself permission to step away from work long enough to create them.

As a mom who built her business while raising kids, here’s what I’ve learned:

You don’t need to work all summer.
You need to work intentionally.

Maybe you only have four focused hours a day, four days a week.

Great.

Then those hours need to be your highest ROI activities:
• Lead generation
• Follow-up
• Conversations
• Appointments
• Client care

Then go make memories.

Take the trip.
Meet friends at the splash pad.
Host the moms’ night out.
Say yes to the adventure.

And while you’re living it… document it.

Not because it’s content.

Because someday you’ll want to remember.

Now, if you’re me, with an 18-year-old man-child leaving for college in 74 days (not that I’m counting), there’s admittedly been a little more crying mixed into the schedule lately.

Okay, a lot more crying.
(Ask me how much I cried, making this reel!)
But that’s exactly why this season has reminded me of something important:

The business can wait an afternoon.

These moments can’t.

Protect your work hours.
Protect your growth.
Protect your routines.

But also protect the memories.

Because one day you’ll be staring at a video of a little kid on a bicycle wondering how 18 years disappeared so fast.

Future You will be incredibly grateful you made the memories… and even more grateful that you captured them. ❤️

It’s been almost 26 years since I lost my mom.

She was sick for most of her life, and there were so many things she never got the chance to do.

The older I get, the more I realize that every new adventure, every leap of faith, every business decision, every plane ticket, and every scary next step carries a little piece of her with it.

I don’t take chances because I’m fearless.

I take them because life is shorter and more fragile than we realize.

And because somewhere along the way, I realized the best way to honor my mom is to take the risks she never had the chance to take. ❤️

One of the questions I get from people relocating to North Texas is:

“What is there to do in McKinney?”

This.

Tonight we were on the historic downtown square for the 30th annual Texas Music Revolution. More than 75 bands. Multiple stages. Local restaurants and bars overflowing with energy. Families, friends, visitors, and neighbors all gathered in one place.

It even rained…and nobody seemed to care. I had a new hat on… I looked cute 💁🏻‍♀️

But there’s something special about living in a place where nationally recognized artists can perform just steps from locally owned shops, restaurants, and one of THE MOST charming downtown squares in Texas.

You don’t have to drive into Dallas for a great night out.

You can find it right here in McKinney.

This festival continues tomorrow, but the lifestyle it represents is here year-round. 🤠🎵

of my favorite parts of leadership isn’t standing at the front of the room. It’s standing back and watching relationships form.

This month, our in-person meeting was hosted by Tosha with Stonehollow Homes inside one of her beautiful new construction homes. Instead of a sales pitch, we put her in the hot seat and dug into the questions that matter most: How do we better represent our buyers? What should agents be asking? Where can we create more value throughout the new build process?

The content was great. But what I love even more is what happens between the training.

Conversations in the kitchen. Agents sharing experiences. New friendships forming. Veterans helping newer agents. Business ideas being exchanged. Community being built.

People often assume a virtual brokerage means less connection. What I’ve found is the opposite. The technology gives us flexibility, but it’s the people who create the culture.

And there is nothing better than watching agents who genuinely want to see each other win. ❤️

There’s something special about sitting around a table with other agents, swapping war stories, celebrating wins, talking through challenges, sharing ideas, and reminding each other that none of us are building this business alone.

Some came with cocktails. Some came with mocktails. Everyone came with stories.

In an industry that can sometimes feel isolating, nights like these are a good reminder that community still matters. Grateful for the conversations, the laughter, and the chance to do life and business alongside some pretty incredible people.

Until next month. 🍸🥂
