From handcrafted details and timeless architecture to generations of families who once called it home, historic properties offer something many modern homes simply can't replicate: character.

I recently came across an interesting article about buying historic homes and the unique considerations that come with owning a piece of history. While these homes can be beautiful and one-of-a-kind, buyers should also be prepared for potential maintenance challenges, renovation restrictions, and specialized repairs that may not apply to newer homes.

For many homeowners, preserving original details and architectural charm is well worth the extra effort. For others, modern floor plans and lower maintenance are a better fit.

Is it better to own the biggest house or the smallest house in the neighborhood?

The answer may surprise you.

In real estate, being the largest or most upgraded home in a neighborhood doesn't always translate into the highest return on investment. Buyers often compare homes within the same area, and there can be a limit to how much extra value they place on size and upgrades.

On the other hand, the smallest home in a desirable neighborhood may benefit from surrounding property values and can sometimes offer a more affordable entry point into a sought-after area.

The key is finding the right balance:
