Dried limelight hydrangeas make a beautiful wreath on my front door. I adore the look of this wreath!!!

Cut the hydrangeas when they feel like thin paper.

I gathered my supplies: grapevine wreath, pruners, wire baskets for drying, bedsheet to collect cut hydrangeas, and trash can.

These are pannicle hydrangeas that bloom on new wood so they can be cut back some now. I gathered mine on a sheet so I could carry them all at one time to the backyard.

Pull off leaves over a trash can to collect the mess.

I stuck them in an upside down wire basket to dry for a couple of days.

Once dry, stick the flower end in the grapevine wreath, arranging larger flowers on the outside. Use smaller flowers to fill in.

This large grapevine wreath took about 60 flowers for a full look.

So so pretty!

DIY FOR MAKING $3 PAPER NAPKIN LAMPSHADES :

Follow the instructions labeled on the pictures.

I can't tell you how adorable these lampshades are!!!

Each one cost around $3 and took about 30 minutes to make. Plus, I didn't ruin the existing lampshade.

I will be making Christmas shades... so many ideas are floating in my creative brain!!!

HOW TO SEW AN ENGLISH STYLE FABRIC PLEATED LAMPSHADE: PART 1

Follow the pictures for tutorial:
This is a two part tutorial because I could only upload 20 pictures or less.

Please ask me questions if you need further help.

I will post part 2 in a couple of days.

These fabric lampshades are pricey to buy, around $125. This shade took 1 1/4 yard of fabric at $17 a yard, so cost around $30.

Found these stunning Japanese Meiji porcelain blue and white floral beauties at an antique shop and knew they belonged in my home - just not in the bathroom at the moment! Walking through an antique shop, I stumbled upon these two. They caught my eye immediately, especially since I collect blue and white porcelain. I didn't see toilets; yes, these are late 19th century Japanese Meiji toilets; I saw canvases, vessels of beauty. They symbolize to me the power of reimagination - turning something once mundane into a statement of art and joy. I imagined them transformed - one holding the warm French rope garden edgers and a 1950's white garden pot and the other stuffed with vintage blue Ball jars from my grandparent's farm in Iowa.

I carefully cleaned them with bleach, one is cracked, shedding their past function to embrace their new purpose as art

Now they sit proudly on my kitchen island - the heart of my home. They're not just decor; they're conversation starters, a daily invitation to see the world with fresh eyes.

I will place one on my front porch during the fall season and fill with baby white pumpkins and some candles. I am not sure what I will do at Christmas time. Any suggestions???

I like timeless elegence and warm, cozy decor. From decorating with crystals, vintage silver pieces, fabric tablecloths hung as curtains, antique mantel clocks, and shelled antlers.

Oh my goodness, these English style fabric pleated lampshades that I made add so much charm and coziness to the Aiden Gray mantel lamps and the overall mantel decor.

If you are familiar with alicepalmerco fabric lampshades, you know the fabulous style yet at a very high price. Her lampshades are made with expensive designer fabrics, hence the high price. I used quilting fabric ( $17 per yard ) to make my shades. I lined the shades with the same top fabric, giving them the needed thickness so the pleats would stand up straight.

I followed Molly in Maine sewing instructions. The second picture is where to find her blog post.

The fabulous thing about these pleated lampshades is that they fit over an existing lampshade so you don't ruin the existing lampshade, and you can switch them out.

I made both small lined lampshades with three yards of fabric total. It took me about an hour to sew each shade.

I hope you will give these a try...so easy and adorable!
