This is one of the main reasons your brand new house has gaps in the trim after only a couple months or at your 1 year warranty inspection. Maybe your deck boards have larger gaps now compared to when installed. Our wood today is cut sooner and installed in your home before it has a chance to dry and cure. It’s also not as dense or hard and strength is not what it used to be. Sometimes in life we create our own problems. Probably a life lesson in this somewhere about slowing down or even the benefits of aging! Either way just some food for thought today! Be blessed!

Many people ask about the importance of a home inspection for New Construction. These pictures are examples of why it is SO important to have your new construction home inspected! All of these pictures are from a $650,000 home. This is a section of wall that could not be seen from the ground. This section is probably 24” long and 15” high that the brick or stone was never installed. I could literally stick my arm into the attic. I have been noticing more and more people that forget to change their AC filters. This is one of the most important things you can do for your HVAC system. Dirty filters cause your system to work harder, costing you more money, and can even stop up your coil causing the unit to fail prematurely. 1” thick filters should be checked monthly and 4” filters every 3-4 months. Change as needed.

Spring is in the air and time to do a little maintenance. AC filters, sealing around windows and doors, and change your smoke detector batteries! Hail season is also upon us and a roofer should be local and insured. NEVER pay in full upfront. If a contractor asks you to do this, keep looking, this is not the guy you want.
