Laurie Mensing, Realtor

Laurie Mensing, Realtor I am 1 of 5 children, born in Southern Idaho and raised in California, where the family business moved when I was 6 years old. Who is Laurie Mensing now?

Luxury REALTOR® | Long & Foster #1 agent McLean office. $1.5B+ sold, 500+ 5 ⭐ reviews | Proudly helping buyers & sellers in McLean and Northern Virginia since 2006 | Every Transaction is Treated As If It Were My Own Growing up in a family business and raised with the “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” mentality, I have been infused with hard work ethics and values my whole life. Integrity, cust

omer satisfaction, and simply treating others as you would want to be treated. I attended college in Oregon and developed a career as National Sales Manager with a food importer, focusing on the food service trade. After marrying, I embraced the world of the corporate ladder with my husband, Eric, moving 12 times in 18 years. I was approached by International Orientation Resources, a company out of Chicago, looking for a Destination Coordinator. From London to Dubai and Toronto to Hong-Kong, I acted as an independent consultant assisting corporate employees in moving their families and their lives to seemingly unknown places. This chapter was instrumental in developing my business plan. A mother of three, my husband and I now reside in McLean, VA. When returning back to the Northern VA area for the third time, I acted as the general contractor in building our home. This experience, coupled with buying and selling homes, interior design, and customer service, I was able to put all of my past careers and knowledge together only to discover that working in Real Estate Services would be a perfect fit here in the DC market. First came the real estate license …and I have never looked back. I have been a licensed Realtor since 2006, serving the VA, DC & MD markets. I have received numerous accolades, awards, and recognition from day one, thus resulting in continuing to be one of the top realtors in the nation and Long and Foster/Christie’s International. My in-depth knowledge and expertise to serve my clients are at the highest level possible. I sit in the Top 1% Nationally, Top 1% in VA, recognized as a Top Producer/Multi-Million Dollar Producer for NVAR & NAR and am consistently one of the Top 2 agents for Long and Foster Christie’s/McLean. Long and Foster is currently ranked #3 in the nation for all Real Estate Companies. I could boast about being on "Top Recognized" lists throughout the VA, DC, and MD markets, but don’t. My actions and testimonials from colleagues and clients speak loud enough. I am recognized among peers, colleagues, and community as being a leader in the industry and someone people WANT to work with. Statistically Speaking
I choose not to be a “listing” or a “selling” agent…but both. It is very important that I keep my portfolio of properties and buyers balanced; offering only the very best up to date market understanding to my clients. “It’s all about balance.” So, at the end of each calendar year when I look back, I remain 50/50 between listing and selling. I have been able to negotiate a contract for my buyers typically within 30 days with a 0-7% below list sales price. However, quite often a home is found and ratified within hours, if necessary. Because of my excellent reputation in the market, agents WANT to work with me because of my professionalism and ability to represent my clients well. The least expensive property I have ever listed or sold is $250,000. The most expensive property I have ever listed or sold is $16,100,000. I treat everyone with the utmost respect, attention to detail, and confidentiality. Regardless of whether you are buying or selling, I am a strong negotiator. Average Days on Market: 58/33
List Price/Sales Price Ratio: 98-94%

Familiarity with Geographic Area
Excellent! In addition to my own backyard, I am knowledgeable about surrounding areas and suburbs in other counties. I find that most clients gravitate to the McLean/Great Falls markets and often find themselves purchasing and selling in a totally different area because of criteria. I am well versed with private and public schools, employment, special needs, transportation, and can put my hands on resources to meet the needs of any buyer or seller. Because of this, I work with clients and agents from all areas to provide a valuable broad perspective. I have strong working relationships and am well liked and acknowledged as a “great realtor to work with” among peers. Recommendations can be provided upon request; however numerous testimonials are provided here. Current Trends
I offer current analysis and market updates for specific areas. No two areas are the same, just like real estate agents! Trends can change quickly depending upon inventory levels, consumer confidence and economic factors. I work intimately with lenders, title companies and attorneys to offer a full-service menu of options my clients. Market Predictions
I am involved in maintaining up to date information by participating in regional and national conferences, most specifically following the economic indicators as to how our market is affected here in Northern VA. I also work with agents on a national level offering referrals and information in areas outside of the Metro DC footprint. Overall Success
Working with me you will find yourself surrounded by a wealth of knowledge and resources to meet your goals. My character and hard work ethic is second to none, and I simply get the job done! Empathetic, with a sense of humor, I tend to be a realist and will remain steadfast in my honest communication while protecting your interests and privacy. A great problem solver, negotiator, adherence to professional standards and diplomacy, you will not find a better Realtor to work for you. I am masterful at reading people and intuitive at meeting their needs. Whether buying or selling real estate you will find me to be refreshingly innovative. I thank you for the opportunity to serve you~

Buying or selling a home is rarely just about the property itself.

It is about what comes next.

A change in lifestyle
More space or less
A new chapter beginning

The property is simply the setting. The real decision is about where life is going.

When that bigger picture is clear, the process becomes easier to navigate and decisions feel more aligned.

Real estate is not just a transaction. It is a transition.

One of the biggest factors influencing the market is something many people overlook.

Inventory.

The number of homes available changes how buyers and sellers behave. When options are limited, buyers move differently. When choices increase, they become more selective.

Understanding this helps explain why the same strategy does not always work in every market.

Paying attention to inventory provides context behind what is happening and why.

Negotiation is often misunderstood as a back and forth over price, but it is really a conversation about priorities.

Each side is trying to protect what matters most to them. Sometimes that is timing, sometimes it is certainty, and sometimes it is financial.

Understanding those priorities creates better outcomes.

The goal is not just to win. It is to reach an agreement that makes sense for both sides.

That is where the strongest deals are built.

The moment a home goes live, it enters its most important window.

Buyers who have been watching the market are quick to act when something stands out. That early attention builds momentum, and momentum creates opportunity.

If interest is strong right away, everything becomes easier. If it is slow, it becomes harder to recover.

Strong presentation, thoughtful pricing, and easy access for showings all contribute to how that first wave of activity unfolds.

The beginning often shapes the entire outcome.

One of the most important parts of buying a home happens before the search even begins.

Understanding financing clearly changes how buyers approach everything. It shapes budget, expectations, and confidence when making an offer.

Without that clarity, uncertainty tends to follow every decision.

With it, buyers move with purpose and less stress.

Knowing your numbers is not just about approval. It is about feeling comfortable with the decisions you are making along the way.

Today is a time to reflect on something bigger than our everyday routines.

It is about honoring those who served and the sacrifices that made our lives possible. The moments we experience at home, with family and friends, carry a deeper meaning because of that.

Home represents comfort, stability, and freedom in ways we do not always think about.

Taking a moment today to appreciate that perspective reminds us how meaningful those simple moments truly are.

There is a moment buyers often experience that is hard to explain.

It is not about checking every box. It is about how everything comes together.

The layout makes sense
The space feels comfortable
The home feels easy to live in

That feeling does not happen in every showing, but when it does, it stands out immediately.

Recognizing that moment is important, because the right home rarely feels perfect on paper. It simply feels right in person.

The process of buying or selling a home is more than just the final result. It is the experience along the way that people remember most.

How communication felt
How challenges were handled
How supported someone felt throughout

If we have worked together, your feedback helps paint that picture for someone else who is just getting started.

Sharing your experience gives others a clearer idea of what to expect and helps them move forward with more confidence.

Looking at too many homes without direction can make the process harder, not easier.

Buyers start second guessing what they liked, what mattered, and what felt right. Everything begins to blur together.

That is why having a simple framework for each showing is so important. Knowing what to look for keeps decisions grounded and consistent.

The goal is not to see everything. It is to recognize the right fit when it appears.

Clear thinking leads to better choices, especially when options start to stack up.

The first showing creates interest. The second showing confirms it.

When buyers come back, they are no longer just browsing. They are looking deeper, noticing details, and imagining how the home fits into their life.

This is where decisions start to take shape.

Sellers often focus on getting people through the door, but what really matters is giving buyers a reason to return. That second visit is often the step right before an offer.

Homes that invite a second look tend to create stronger outcomes.
