Rent controls are effecting the owners of homes in Manufactured Home Parks in Oregon. We are trying to get some relief from the 10%/year increases that Oregon Rent Control allows. The owners of MFHs own their homes and pay for improvements (roof, landscaping, HVAC repairs, plumbing repairs, etc.), taxes, homeowner's insurance in addition to the park rents. In some cases they even pay for water, garbage, sewer fees and sometimes even city fees. Tenants of apartments and single family DO NOT have these added expenses, they are covered by the property owners. There are other issues as well that make our situation different; If we can't pay the space rent we can be evicted from homes we own. If we can't keep up on the space rents, the park owners can foreclose on our homes and we could become homeless. WE need everyone to get involved and help make change to the Rent Control rules.
