I spent hours this weekend planning for the upcoming super moon, trying to figure out where and how to capture it. In the end, I decided to stay right here in Southern Oregon and photograph its rise over Mt Mcloughin.

This is one of the most technically difficult photos I have ever taken, especially when factoring in the pre-planning, but it is probably because of those challenges that I am so proud with the outcome.

I truly hope you all enjoy it and am open to any questions!

For those interested in the technical stuff, I have posted the two RAWs needed in a comment below. This was a "simple" two exposure blend. The entire scene was shot at 5" / F4.5 / ISO 100, with the moon shot at exactly the same time and settings except 1/160 for the shutter speed. Giving the moon its detail back that our eyes can see without making it look unnatural was the challenge!

Our local photographer, Elster Photography, caught this image of an Anna's Hummingbird nest today.

I was given a great tip about an Anna's Hummingbird nest this morning. It's close to home and I can easily socially distance myself from the world...I am extremely grateful and look forward to visiting this nest again and again ... that being said, these young hummers look well developed, so this isn't going to last much longer. Happy Earth Day.

I visited my owl family again this morning. It didn't disappoint! I watched mama show both of her offspring a lot of love, here leaning in to one them, almost like a hug. Dad was very nearby too, making sure everything was cool. I'm VERY excited about this situation. Like usual, I just have to find the time to get there. Assuming I do, there will be much more to come! I've had a great couple of days. Yesterday was the busiest day of the year at the market. I got word that the book is still on schedule and oh yeah, this owl situation. Life is great!

Last nights photo chasing became a matter of finding the least fog. The winning location became this beautiful beach just south of Gold Beach, Oregon. I definitely love the mood captured in this long exposure around ten last night.
