I love being apart of such a wonderful community!
Yes we are open... Just not in the usual way....😉Harvey and Monica want to invite you to join us in sharing the financial burden this virus has thrust upon so many in our community!
We will be running the market until May first without taking any profit to support ourselves or our workers or even for fuel for our trucks.
We don’t have the funds to supply the produce however but we have time, energy, and some very good connections to wholesale produce outlets.
It will be run entirely from the generosity in our community all you need to do is shop. Yes all of you ! I get a question asked me a lot these days... If we don’t need help... Can we still shop ? We just want fresh produce! ALL THE MORE REASON TO SHOP! All proceeds go straight back into our community in an organic way bypassing all the government bureaucracies, red tape and programs where much is lost or misused. I think We the people can do this better and more efficiently than Washington. 😉
There is a donation box you know as the after hours box on the counter. You can pay whatever you want for your produce and other items people share for this cause. There will be no prices on anything for a reason. We want you to decide what you can afford. Only each family knows that. 100% of all donations will go back into buying more fresh fruit and veggies this is what we do well. Pay if you can afford it and don’t if you can’t. It’s that simple. It will be unstaffed and open 24/7 by donation only until May first Don’t bother calling during this time no one is there to answer the phone. Harvey will be listening to the communities requests through comments here but so far the requests have been mostly staples, like potatoes, eggs, onions, cabbage, carrots, peppers, lettuce, apples, bananas, etc. If you wonder if more donations are needed look at the shelves If they are empty probably so... We will not be asking or begging for donations from anyone either this either works or it doesn’t, we have nothing invested in this . It is an experiment that I believe could be a great engine to help those less fortunate in our community that have lost jobs or are struggling in some way.
However on May 1st Harvey’s market Will have to start generating an income for ourselves and our workers. Or we will be the ones needing help. 😳
Prices will then be enforced and the cash registers will start running.
You will still be able to donate money towards this cause when you shop for as long as it is needed and 100% will be given away as $20 vouchers for produce for those still needing help in our community throughout the summer. There will be vouchers available at the counter during business hours and will only be redeemable here at Harvey’s market for food items... The discount table this year will be free instead of reduced prices as well as one of our ways of giving back. All non produce items here on May 1st will be donated to the love center food bank here in millersburg and we will ask you to take those items there after May 1st.
There has been an overwhelming response already from you our community both in generosity, Love, gratefulness, Kindness, and a sense of connection even though we can no longer hug and shake hands! This is all so incredibly beautiful in the face of what we are all facing. Hang in there! It will be a bit bumpy for a while we will all have to change how we live for a while these are some adjustments we at Harvey’s market are making.... Please share this with your friends with the Amish, English, Black, whites, Republican’s, Democrats, Hispanic, Religious, gay, straight, le****ns, Christians, atheists, and whatever box you have put them or yourself in because today there is no longer “them” only us!
We are all Family whether we know it or not. Let’s act like it. Chances are you’ll have fun!!!!!
Please consider wearing some sort of mask while shopping here as we will be doing starting today to stock the shelves. Even if you are not sick It will help those who are immune compromised feel safer to shop here. Please self distance as well while shopping. Wash hands before and after shopping and only touch what you buy please!
Thank you so much for your consideration!
Any cloth or paper towel will be better than nothing... let’s do our part!
PS... We are completely out of produce today!!!!! This picture is only the cover photo for Harvey’s market last year. It will be Monday afternoon till we get more in there are only canned goods dry goods and what ever people bring in from their own Food supplies. You can however leave donations towards the load of produce coming Monday in the Cash box on the counter. Or here at PayPal
