This week, Kohldo was hiding at the Old, Original Bank Building in Calico Rock! 🏦

✨ DID YOU KNOW? ✨

Calico Rock has a long banking history dating back more than a century. On May 1, 1914, People’s Bank and Bluff City Bank of Calico Rock merged to form the State Bank of Calico Rock. Remarkably, the bank continued operating through the Great Depression and was one of the few banks that did not close its doors during that difficult time.

The bank was locally owned by stockholders and continued to grow throughout the years. In January 1983, its name officially changed to First State Bank of Calico Rock, and in December 1986, it became a national bank and was renamed First National Bank of Izard County.

As the bank expanded, branches opened throughout the area:
🏦 Mt. Pleasant — March 8, 1976
🏦 Horseshoe Bend — September 19, 1988
🏦 Melbourne — September 20, 1993
🏦 Mountain View — January 3, 1994

For more than 100 years, this local banking institution has been part of the history and growth of Calico Rock, Izard County, and the surrounding communities.

🎡🐮 IT’S FAIR WEEK, IZARD COUNTY! 🐷🎀

Izard County Abstract would like to wish GOOD LUCK to everyone participating in the 2026 Izard County Fair! ❤️🤍💙

There’s a still plenty of days ahead of livestock shows, creative arts, contests, food, and plenty of opportunities to come out and support the hardworking kiddos and exhibitors in our community!

📅 Check out the schedules below and make plans to swing by the fair this week! Come watch a show, walk through the Creative Arts Building, and help us cheer on our local youth! 👏

Another week of Where’s Kohldo? is in the books, and once again, our Izard County locals knew their history! 👀📍

🏫 A Little Violet Hill School History :

Violet Hill has a long and interesting school history. Historical accounts show that around 12 smaller school districts were consolidated into Violet Hill in 1930, making it one of the Largest High Schools in Izard County at the time.

The old building featured in this week’s “ Where’s Kohldo? “ has a story of its own. It is believed to have been constructed with WPA funds and originally served as the school’s Agriculture building. (Does any of Our Izard County Natives know any more information on this? Let us Know!) Local History also tells us that this building is the only one left standing, that survived the Historical 1950’s Tornado that devastated the campus and surrounding areas.

July 1985 came along and the Violet Hill School District consolidated with the Oxford School District to form what we now know today as our Izard County Consolidated School District, the ICC Cougars! 🏈

Today, Violet Hill is still part of the district’s story, with Izard County Consolidated Elementary School located right here in Violet Hill. 📚✏️😊
