Serious issue home buyers - it must be decided on before your home search begins. Set your search criteria - septic or city sewer.
Still problems either way but at least you are going in with eyes wide open.
This goes hand in hand with a post about the same topic yesterday.
While most homeowners aren't being hit with $100K bills to get rid of their septic system and hook up to city sewer systems, even having to deal with a $10K bill isn't something most people can handle. Throw in the fact that they're adding another monthly bill once they are hooked up to the local sewer system and it is another way the government is finding a way to control us.
None of us are against cleaning up the IRL, but what if you live nowhere near a body of water that leads to it? What if there's nothing wrong with your septic system? Yes I understand the whole drain field thing BTW. If septic systems are so bad, why are we allowing homes to be built right now that are not hooked up to the sewer system? How long will it be before the government tries to get those homes converted?
And like I brought up yesterday, how are the local waste treatment facilities going to deal with hundreds or even thousands of new customers when they have trouble dealing with the current level of homes and apartments that are hooked up to sewer systems throughout the county?
Things that make you go hmmmm.
