Things we don’t like: walking through a house in the framing stage and seeing dead space that could be… something.

On this particular plan, this area was sealed off unfinished space. Some people probably wouldn’t go through the hassle to modify permits, but we do not shy away from field changes! Not only does this flex space add additional storage but increases the value of your home.

“How do you plan on using this space?” Is a question you’ll often hear me ask throughout the planning and build process. Just because a room is labeled a particular way on a plan doesn’t mean that is how you intend on using it. There are sometimes areas where the owner hasn’t thought about its final use.

These questions help us identify how to make that space the best it can be for you. Do you need additional outlets? A raised outlet and data drop for a mounted tv? Extra bracing for a swing or gas connection if on a porch? Wiring for future sound or camera system? So many options to make the space best for YOU!

Wood is wood is wood right? Well not exactly. A lot of times when you are going through the purchasing process, home inspectors will call out different exterior areas and refer to them as “wood” only to be swiftly corrected. All exterior “wood”, siding and trim is actually Hardie Board- a fiber cement product that will not have maintenance or deterioration issues like a wood will. The only wood items are going to be any Cedar or decorative options to keep your home as low maintenance as possible! So that wood you’re seeing might not be wood at all

This doesn’t look like Accessible Design… but it is. We believe that a good ADA design doesn’t feel different or sterile. Our Builder is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist who is fully equipped to “future proof” your home without sacrificing style.

In this picture there is plenty of room for a wheelchair between island and cabinet perimeter, switch for the disposal under the sink (as opposed to the newer air switches in the countertop), a lower switch for the vent-a-hood blower, wider doorways, and dropped double oven.
