I’ve been working on something behind the scenes for quite a while, and it’s finally ready.

I wanted a website that felt like more than a place to search for houses. I wanted it to reflect the way I approach real estate, the homes, the neighborhoods, the numbers, and ultimately how all of those things fit into someone’s life.

Some of the best things about a neighborhood aren’t found inside a house, they’re the places nearby that become part of your everyday life.

The Dixon Gallery and Gardens is one of those places. Right in the middle of East Memphis, and close to so many neighborhoods, it’s a place I stop by all the time when I’m in the area. Whether you want to walk through the gardens, enjoy the art in the museum, or go to one of the many events they host throughout the year, there’s always a reason to come back.

I love that The Dixon has been part of Memphis for generations, yet there’s always something different to experience. Places like this are a reminder that quality of life isn’t just about the home, it’s also about the places nearby that make everyday living better.

Real estate has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and becoming a Realtor was something I thought about for years before I finally did it.

My dad started selling real estate in 1988, and for the past three years, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside him. I love that our clients get the benefit of two different perspectives and, between the two of us, more than 40 years of real estate experience.

The second photo is my dad featured in the Commercial Appeal Real Estate section in 1991, just a few years into his career. The City of Memphis had hired his firm to market and sell the vacant lots located in the Midtown corridor, where years earlier about 400 homes were destroyed to make way for an expressway that never materialized.

And clearly, I was ready to help with the marketing pretty early. Around eight years old, I created the masterpiece in the third photo for him: “Houses are red, houses are blue, if you want to buy a house, Burke will do!!!”

More than 30 years later, I still don’t understand why he didn’t use it. 😂

Some believe this was the first home built in High Point Terrace! It was here before it was even an established neighborhood.

Our buyers closed on this High Point Terrace home last month, and I couldn’t be happier for them. They’re planning to renovate it while preserving the architecture and original details that have made this home so unique for nearly a century.

Homes like this don’t come along often. They’re a reminder of the history and character that make Memphis such a special place!

The Germantown Greenway is one of those places. There are multiple entrances within a short walking distance from so many neighborhoods.
