Watts measures:
Electricity used
Energy consumption
Operating cost

Watts do not tell you brightness.

Lumens measures:
Amount of light produced

The key term is gauge! If it feels warm, it's undersized for the job.
Rule of thumb- extension cords are temporary solutions NOT permanent wiring.
