Many schools require proof of residency during enrollment, and your electric bill can serve as a valuable document to establish your address. So, be sure to keep your July bill safe and accessible, as it'll come in handy when it's time to register your little learners for the upcoming school year.

Don’t forget!!

Just in time for back-to-school shopping, the Mississippi Sales Tax Holiday, often referred to as Tax Free Weekend, is just around the corner! It starts at 12:01 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2026, and goes through midnight Sunday, July 12, 2026.

This means that no sales tax will be applied to eligible clothing, footwear and school supplies if the sales price of the single item is less than $100!

Rent as a share of income, mapped out.

On $3,500 take-home:
$1,050 is 30%, comfortable.
$1,400 is 40%, tight.
$1,750 is 50%, the danger zone where saving almost stops.

When rent crosses 40% of take-home, most other goals quietly go on hold. The percentage matters more than the dollar amount.
